Several Maine organizations concerned with helping Mainers to reduce their energy bills have worked together to bring two educational forums about the PACE financing program to Bangor and Ellsworth. Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) is a low-interest financing program now available to homeowners, which can make home energy improvements a money-saving opportunity.
The program, administered by Efficiency Maine, will be the focus of a community forum in Bangor on Monday, October 17th and in Ellsworth on Tuesday, October 18. Both fora will run from 7-8:30pm.
The Bangor forum will take place at Bangor City Hall Council Chambers at 73 Harlow Street. Forum panelists include Efficiency Maine Residential Program Specialist Dana Fischer, Bangor Asst. Solicitor Paul NIcklaus, and homeowners who have benefited from the PACE program. Nicole Gerber, Fox Morning News co-anchor, will serve as moderator. Local certified energy contractors and building efficiency professionals will be invited to share information about their services. The public is invited to attend and ask questions about PACE and qualifying home energy improvements. The program will be broadcast live and taped for rebroadcast by Bangor Community Access Television.
The Ellsworth forum will take place at Ellsworth City Hall Council Chambers at One City Hall Plaza. The panel will include Dana Fischer, Ellsworth City staff, and local homeowners who've qualified for PACE and/or benefited from other Efficiency Maine programs. Sara Hayman Huisjen, pastor of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth, will moderate the panel.
The forums are sponsored by the cities of Bangor and Ellsworth, Efficiency Maine, Maine Association of Building Efficiency Professionals, Maine Interfaith Power & Light, and Maine Partners for Cool Communities and its signature Green Sneakers Project. The Ellsworth Forum has additional sponsorship from Sustainable Ellsworth and Hancock County Planning Commission.
