Small, innovative businesses in Maine that are working on energy storage technologies will be interested to know that there is support available through the Northeast Electrochemical Energy Storage Cluster (NEESC). NEESC is a network of industry, academic, government and non-governmental leaders working together to help businesses provide energy storage solutions. To this end, NEESC has recently established an Innovation Action Program to provide "fast-track" resources to eligible small businesses.
The Innovation Action Program will be directed to support emerging small businesses in the hydrogen/fuel cell and energy storage industry, to assist businesses to capture private financing or federal funding for research and new product development and to facilitate the commercialization of emerging technologies.
Recipients are expected to achieve substantial and measurable improvements to the company's overall profitability and competitiveness. Uses of this funding include, but are not limited to the following:
--Technical experts in universities, educational institutions, nonprofits, or other organizations to solve engineering, marketing and other challenges;
--Financial training and market growth planning;
--Commercialization and innovation services;
--Technology Assessment Reports (Go-No/Go reports);
--Patent/IP services; --Accounting assistance (federal agency budget preparation); and
