ENERGY STAR® reports that these high-efficiency units can save a four-person household more than $3,000 over ten years when compared to “conventional” electric water heaters. Other benefits include long warranties and the ability to dehumidify.

With Efficiency Maine’s $500 rebate and the $300 federal tax credit, there’s never been a better time to buy a heat pump water heater. But the tax credit expires on December 31, 2016.

Efficiency Maine is encouraging homeowners to take advantage of this tax credit before it expires. This combined $800 incentive will become $500 on January 1.
