The April 16, 2012 issue of Mainebiz holds a great article by Douglas Rooks, which describes the many forces acting on the wind power industry in Maine. Some of those forces include low natural gas prices, the imminent expiration of the federal production tax credit for wind power producers and unreliable support for the industry from both state and federal officials. These ever-changing elements of the market landscape make the business of wind power a challenging one for developers to navigate, yet most seem to be in it for the long haul.
