Full service energy company offering #2 fuel, kerosene, propane, B20 bioheat/biodiesel, diesel, service and installation
M. W. Sewall is a 4th generation family business serving Maine’s mid-coast communities since 1887. We are locally owned and operate from our Maine based office located at 259 Front Street in Bath.
We are a full service energy company that serves our customer’s needs 24 hours a day/365 days a year so you can be comfortable knowing that we will be there when you need us. We offer a variety of petroleum products to serve the needs of both our residential and commercial accounts.
Our products include Fuel Oil, Kerosene, Propane, ULSD Clear On Road Diesel, ULSD Dyed Off Road Diesel, Gasoline and BioFuel. We get our supply of certified Bioheat from Sprague Energy a wholesaler at the forefront of clean fuels development and marketing. They are now the first oil terminal operator in the United States to earn BQ-9000 Certified Marketer status by the National Biodiesel Board.
Biofuels have been shown to help reduce the majority of regulated emissions as they contain no petroleum. Biodiesel can be used in its pure form as B100 and it has been commonly used in on-highway diesel engines as B20 (20% biodiesel and 80% petroleum diesel). Additionally, a B2 or B5 blend has been successfully blended into #2 heating oil for home heating.
We collect waste cooking oil and process it into biodiesel, a clean burning and renewable diesel replacement.
Maine Standard Biofuels is Maine’s only local full-service waste grease collector and biodiesel manufacturer. We provide the local community with high performance, low impact biodiesel fuel at the pump and in bulk, biodegradable soap, as well as clean and prompt grease collection. Based in Portland since 2006, we strongly value the environmental and social benefits of having our business focused on environmentally sound localism and sustainability.
Unlike other waste grease collectors, we insure that all of the oil we collect goes to biodiesel. None is sold on the commodities market to be sold as animal feed. We strive to reduce waste from our biodiesel process and general operations. Most of our waste is either made into a biodegradable soap or broken down to generate clean electricity. Biodiesel has been shown to significantly reduce emissions and reduce engine wear, extending the life of the engine.
