The Sustainability Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating Colby's sustainability programs by integrating College operations with academic programs, student and faculty research, and civic engagement. Sustainability and conservation are core values and strategic priorities at Colby, and the coordinator will work with administrators, faculty, students, and staff to identify, develop, implement, and promote collaborative strategies that advance these core values and strategic goals of the College's educational mission.
Primary responsibilities include fostering a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, and staff; identifying and prioritizing areas for institutional sustainability efforts; planning and developing long- and short-range programs; and engaging with institutional leaders to foster sustainability broadly across campus departments and offices.
The coordinator serves as an important member of the College's administrative staff, reporting to the Vice President for Administration and Treasurer.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree preferred. Five years experience in management, sustainability or related programs or equivalent education background required. Knowledge of sustainability theories and practices and local, national, and global sustainability and environmental initiatives. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, strong computer skills, and the capacity to undertake multiple assignments are essential. Ability to work with diverse academic community and creatively overcome obstacles through collaboration required.
