Weatherization Technician

Penobscot Home Performance is currently hiring experienced Weatherization Technicians service Penobscot, Piscataquis, Knox, Waldo, and Hancock Counties. Responsible for on-site renovations identified during energy assessments that will reduce energy use in homes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Air sealing
Install all types of insulation throughout home where needed
Weather-strip and seal doors that cause the most heat loss
Seal other leaks identified during home assessment
Attend all mandatory training sessions
Mandatory Attendance/Punctuality: consistently at work and on time; ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent; arrive at meetings and appointments on time; infractions may lead to termination
Regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
Regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme cold (non-weather) and extreme heat (non-weather)
Frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places; risk of electrical shock, vibration, and work near moving mechanical parts

Qualifications:

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions and to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus
Valid driver’s license with at least three (3) year’s clean driving record preferred
